Lead time & delivery

The majority of Rafe Olsen floors and accessories are made to order on a bespoke basis. This means that often you will have to wait a little longer than usual when compared to an off the shelf product. Some unfinished floors and accessories are available to be delivered within 48 hours. The majority of adhesives, stains, oils and cleaning products are also available for delivery quickly.

Delivery can be made via a variety of methods. Please see below for further details on lead times and delivery methods.

Hardwood Flooring

Unless ordering an Unfinished Oak product which you intend to apply a top coat to yourself, all Rafe Olsen hardwood flooring is finished to order. Once your order has been processed and payment cleared, the bespoke finishing team will begin the task of preparing, applying colour and top coating your floor. Each of these stages takes time. Naturally, the more processes involved, the more time it takes. The oil top coat provides the protective barrier from elements that may cause damage; for the surface to be fully cured it can take 7-10 days (dependant upon environmental factors). Until fully cured, the flooring cannot be washed or cleaned meaning any stains or marks left from fitting can become permanent. For this reason, under no circumstances do we deliver any flooring until it has fully cured.

Accessories

As with the hardwood flooring, solid oak mouldings and accessories are available in the same finishes as the flooring. Unfinished accessories are available ex-stock for immediate despatch but the bespoke profiles and mouldings are subject to the same processes as the flooring. This enables us to ensure that the best possible colour match is achieved when hand finishing your order. Generally when ordering colour matched profiles to complement your bespoke floor, they will arrive together in one consignment. If extras are required after production or delivery of the flooring has been made, the lead time may be 7-10 days whilst the curing process is completed.

Items such as adhesive, oils or cleaning products that are ordered without a floor will be despatched and delivered as soon as possible on a next day courier service.

Delivery surcharges & Exclusions

At Rafe Olsen, we try to ensure that our delivery prices are as transparent and fair as possible. All of our charges apply to deliveries made to the UK Mainland. Our courier companies do make exceptions and additional charges are levied on certain areas and their respective postcodes. With this in mind, if you are ordering for a delivery to be made to the Channel Isles, Northern Ireland, Eire, Scottish Highlands or the Scottish Isles please contact us first before placing your order. An additional charge is likely to apply. We reserve the right to cancel any orders received that are to be delivered to areas where surcharges may apply. We will endeavour to keep any potential surcharges to the bare minimum. The above also applies to international customers and deliveries required outside of the UK.

Delivering beautiful floors

The floors we produce cannot happen over night. One thing you can be sure of though; they’re worth the wait

Delivery methods

The quickest and most economical method of delivery will be selected by Rafe Olsen when the order is complete. Small items will be delivered by a parcel courier service and larger flooring orders will be dispatched via the pallet network. Orders delivered on a pallet will not necessarily require a forklift to remove them. Most lorries are equipped with tail lifts and means of manoeuvring pallets to where they need to be left.

On all occasions, consignments will require a signature on delivery. Delivery to a neighbour (or a work address) is perfectly acceptable if they are willing to take responsibly for the goods.
